Commissioner Jon Thaxton joins GCCF as Director of Community Investment. Described as a leader in strategic vision, Thaxton will fit right in with the foundation in investing in important issues.
The Gulf Coast Community Foundation is a local-public charity that has been involved in bold and public philanthropy since 1995. GCCF has invested over one hundred million dollars in areas from arts and culture, to civic and economic development to education and environment. Jon Thaxton has served on the Sarasota County Commission for years, reaching his term limit in late 2012. “We are excited he has decided to join us as he completes his public service career in Sarasota.” said Teri A Hansen, President and CEO of GCCF. “Jon brings a rich blend of local history and strategic vision which will match perfectly with our current staff.”
Working part-time until his term as Sarasota County Commissioner ends in mid-November, at which point he will become a full-time staff member, Thaxton will engage donors and community partners through initiatives in workforce, economic development and other Gulf Coast priorities that will result in systemic improvements throughout the region. “Jon was selected over dozens of applicants from around the country,” added Mark Pritchett, Senior Vice President for Community Investment at GCCF. “He can step right in and help us with a variety of important issues like unemployment, homelessness, and education.”
We at SarasotaDay.com would like to congratulate Jon Thaxton in his new role as Director of Community Investment. To learn more about the Gulf Coast Community Foundation visit http://www.gulfcoastcf.org/
